President's Letter
|
ChildServ is challenged to provide quality services to children and their families
during a period of reduced fiscal resources. The current social and economic climates
require that we change some of our methods to help children and families build better
lives. Fortunately, ChildServ and our stakeholders remain committed to addressing
existing social conditions by empowering communities and vulnerable families
through advocacy, prevention, early intervention and out of home placement services.
I am proud to be part of an organization that impacts the lives of thousands of children
each year. Guided by the underpinnings of our mission and vision, ChildServ has
updated its strategic objectives in ways that will enable us to better integrate
services to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school aged children, teenagers, young
adults and their parents as well as senior caregivers. During the next three years,
ChildServ's Strategic Plan calls on us to develop three family service centers in Cook,
Lake and DuPage Counties; heighten our focus on advocacy; and concentrate greater
attention on how our client and participant service outcomes make a measurable difference
in the lives of children.
ChildServ has developed its first family service center in
Waukegan. This new service model creates synergy and a higher level of support to children and
families, promoting safety, permanency and well being for children and their families. I am grateful to
the Luehring Foundation for their recent gift. This generous grant for our Parent Empowerment
Program (PEP) enables us to begin development of our second family service center at our Homewood
site.
I want to thank each of you who share ChildServ's mission and vision to make our
community a better place for children and their families. Thank you also for partnering
with ChildServ, enabling us to be a creative and nimble leader in providing high quality services to support
children, youth, families and communities to meet the ever-changing challenges of society.
Winter 2005.
