Safe Homes for Kids

In 2002, ChildServ partnered with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, City of Chicago, several faith-based and community organizations to establish Safe Home for Kids, a program developed to reunite siblings in foster care while providing a stable home environment with a network of support services.

The program, believed to be the first of its kind in the country, is one in which the City helped to build or rehabilitate homes before turning them over to the partner organizations. Currently, ChildServ is the licensing and monitoring agency for two buildings on the West Side of Chicago. The three-story, four-bedroom homes are an ideal setting for sisters and brothers to reconnect.
